As the body count rises Eve, not quick to believe in the supernatural, looks for other reasons to explain what happened. Eve is wondering why she is at a fancy party (with her handsome husband, Roarke) wearing stiletto heels and tons of diamonds, when a naked man, covered in blood, clutching a knife staggers in. Roarke on the other hand, losing two employees and feeling a sense of responsibility, doesn't mind tapping another source, an ex-lover who is a witch. Following bloody footprints Eve finds a disturbing crime scene in room 606 (changed to appear to be 666) with all the signs of a ritual murder by devil worshipers. The doctor accused of killing his love interest doesn't remember anything from the night and is experiencing a series of painful headaches when he tries to remember. Determined to get to the bottom of the mystery (with her trusted partner Peabody, e-Geek McNab, and Roarke), Eve finds that some are willing to destroy the lives of others, for power and control. I enjoyed this short story and can't wait until the next JD Robb release.
Loved it. Not only is the writing solid and 5 star. the brillance audio performance by Susan Erickson was ultra mag. If they ever change the reader for someone other than Erickson, i'll stop bying the audio. and I have almost the entire collection on audio.
I keep thinking maybe the stories are going to start getting repetitious or the mysteries flimsy, but it doesn't happen. J.D. Robb (Norah Roberts) just keeps giving us great stories for Eve Dallas and entourage. This series has been available to us huge fans for a long time, now, but I haven't gotton tired of the characters or the situations, yet. Keep them coming.
J D Robb (Nora Roberts) strikes again. Eve Dallas is a character you just can't help but like. Her no nonsense way of dealing with things and her assortment of fellow characters makes this series a must read. If you are a Nora Roberts fan and have never read the In Death series you are missing out.
Lieutenant Eve Dallas faces yet more challenges when she investigates a crime involving a Satanic ritual and a witness who can't remember anything. High tension and excitement involve many twists and turns of plot in a story pitting Eve against possible forces of an evil she can't believe in. Recommended for any mystery or suspense audio listener and libraries catering to them.
